Welcome to Travel Tuesdays!
For the next few weeks, I’ll be writing about my latest trip to Disney World. This week, we’ll start with getting there.
After much research on airfare, we settled on Frontier Airlines. For a family of 5, we spent about $1300 to fly direct to Orlando. This fare was almost $500 cheaper than our usual airline of choice, Southwest. NOTE: Frontier is a no-frills airline. They don’t offer free snacks onboard and drinks, other than water, will cost you extra. Knowing this, we brought snacks from home (each child had a snack pack in their carry-on) and bought drinks from the store in the airport.
Frontier also charges extra for your choice of seat, carry-ons, checked bags, etc. They do offer bundling packages so you can choose your seat, get a carry-on, and checked bag for a lower price than if you purchased all this separately. After comparing prices, they were still cheaper than other airlines where these things are included. We normally don’t need 5 checked bags (hubby and I share a suitcase), but we brought a nearly empty suitcase for souvenirs.
Packing for Disney World!
I purchased a few items for the trip which were LIFESAVERS!
Waterfly Fanny Pack Slim $14.99 I always have ‘stuff’ to carry but I didn’t want something pulling on my shoulders. This fanny pack was perfect! It held my credit cards, iPhone 7 Plus, chapstick and a small bottle of lotion with room to spare!
Evaporative Cooling Towel (4 Pack) $19.99 NOTE: I only paid $6 for these as I had a promo code. I would gladly pay full price though! These towels were PERFECT for the 100+ degree, 75%+ humidity days. It felt so nice to drench these with cold water, then drape them around our necks-and sometimes over our heads! I HIGHLY recommend these towels…you won’t be sorry!
Womens Disney Castle Fitted Trucker Baseball Cap $45 This hat isn’t a necessity, per se, but I love it! It’s cute and I didn’t see anything like it in the parks. It kept the sun off my face and was super comfy to wear. By far, one of my favorite hats ever!
As far as packing, I brought workout pants, tank tops and swim suits. I also packed tennis shoes, sandals and flip flops. My feet get tired so being able to switch shoes makes walking easier.
Feeling adventurous? Grab a Mystery Pack of Disney shirts from Perfshirts! For $25 (Reg. $75), you can choose your favorite style of shirt, size and favorite character and they’ll send you 3 shirts! I ordered mine before we left and I was not disappointed! They fit well and were great quality!
Tune in next week when I’ll talk about our hotel, The Grand Floridian, and the perks of the Disney Dining Plan!
